A terrible situation! I can imagine you're upset.
Perhaps I have something that can help you. In my opinion your story gives absolute no indication to euthanize your dog, in any case not for epilepsy.
A few years ago a Dutch vet has made a study concerning epilepsy in dogs. Following that study, a marvellous new drug which can prevent epileptic attacks, has been developed.
The name of that drug is Epitard. I have used it in my clinic very succesfully, so I advise you strongly to talk about it with your vet and, if nothing comes out of that talk, to ask for a second opinion.
Almost any dog, that has the attacks not more often than weekly, can be treated succesfully.
